'Amber'
I am a self-taught artist from originally from the heart of Acadiana (Lafayette, Louisiana), I now reside in Mandeville, Louisiana. I use whimsy and humor as a way to express myself through art. My subjects include all things close to my heart -- Louisiana, New Orleans, wildlife, family, architecture, and animals. I use my art as a way of relieving stress and celebrating the beauty and light in ordinary places and things.

II have always felt that I received this talent for a reason. Therefore, I have a need to share the healing aspects of creating art. I teach adult beginner acrylic painting classes locally called "Art Therapy," and have also taught a kids class called "Palette Pals." I try to get my students to get to know and observe their subjects. My slogan is "It's only hard if you don't let it be easy." The practice of creating art soothes the soul. There are so many reasons to have stress in life. Art should not add stress, it should relieve it. Loosing yourself in a painting frees your mind, at least for a little while.
As a member of the St. Tammany Art Association, I have participated in the Bastille Day Eiffel Tower art competition, Member's Gallery, Hancock Bank Exhibition, and several other activities. A painting of mine was published in the 2010 Polo Edition of Inside Northside Magazine and participated in the "Meet the Artists of Polo" showing. I regularly participate in "Spring for Art" and "Fall for Art" at the Copper Rooster in downtown Covington on Lee Lane where I usually have pieces for sale. I have opened a new space in the Clayton House Marketplace, 1600 Collins Blvd in Covington (the old Cordell's Furniture). Look for the 10 foot rooster in front of the store!
"Art Therapy" classes are now being held at Hobby Lobby in Covington on Tuesday mornings. Email me at [email protected] to be on the mailing list. "Sips and Strokes" painting parties are a fun way to get together with friends, family, and co-workers. Email me for more information.

I was recently chosen by the Junior League of Greater Covington as the 2012 Featured Poster Artist of the Harvest Cup Polo Classic and will be featured in the September/October issue of Inside Northside Magazine in Covington, Louisiana. I will be featured at the Meet the Artist Reception on September 12 at Champagne Beverage and at the Harvest Cup Polo Classic on October 21. Posters are available for purchase for $20 each. Contact the Junior League of Greater Covington for posters and to purchase tickets for the Harvest Cup Polo Classic on October 21 in Folsom, Louisiana.
"Toast of Polo" is the poster art for the Junior League of Greater Covington's annual event, the Harvest Cup Polo Classic. The original painting will be auctioned at the event on October 21, 2012 in Folsom, Louisiana. Contact JLGC for event info and tickets. When the details of the poster contest were announced, I felt they were speaking to me personally. The wanted a "whimsical" image to depict the fun to be had at the event. I refer the to the painting as she because that's how she feels to me. When I thought about the event, I thought about how I would like to look if I attended the event and what I would want to feel and do. My daughter is an equestrian and I wanted the horse to be prominent in the image, but my lady would be the main focus. That's why the polo player's face is plain without eyes. The colors for the painting were chosen to depict the "harvest" time of year.
